An Oriel y Parc Welcome
Oriel y Parc visitors are greeted by an enthusiastic and welcoming team of staff, who are here to inform, guide and hopefully inspire.
The staff, many of whom have lived locally all their lives, are passionate about the Pembrokeshire landscape and have a wealth of local knowledge.Below is some helpful advice from a member of staff delighted with the new development.
She said: “When you visit a new place – or even if you’ve lived somewhere for years but never really explored it – there’s often so much to do and see that you’re not sure where to start.
“So here’s a tip from us here at the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority: start your journey of discovery at Oriel y Parc Landscape Gallery, St Davids.
“We opened the doors to Oriel y Parc last autumn and we’ve welcomed visitors from all over the world. We run the centre in partnership with Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales, so our galleries are brimming with treasures from the Welsh national collections, as well as work by local artists and celebrated painter Graham Sutherland.
“But the discovery doesn’t end there. The striking curved building – an attraction in itself – also houses our Visitor Information Centre. Use the interactive displays, or talk to staff, to find out about walks and activities; attractions, restaurants and places to stay in the National Park. You can buy maps and guides for the area or browse the locally sourced gifts to take home.
“Then there’s the Discovery Room, Oriel y Parc’s interactive space, where we host a lively programme of events throughout the year to inspire visitors of all ages to get creative and explore the landscape. You can also watch art being created in our Artist-in-Residence studio and perhaps even chat to the artist, Brendan Stuart Burns.
“And to round off your visit we’ve got a 50 seat café where you can enjoy home produced meals made with local, seasonal produce, as well as some delicious cakes and drinks.
“We look forward to welcoming you to Oriel y Parc and we hope it inspires you to journey further into the National Park to discover all that Pembrokeshire has to offer.”
